REGULATIONS / CLASSIFICATION / CERTIFICATION
The barges are built in accordance with the BUREAU VERITAS “Rules for the Classification of Inland Navigation Vessels”.
The steel hull is built with plates thickness 6 and 8 mms.
The framing is longitudinal type, with the following scantlings:

  • frames and girders                      L300x100x6 and L200x80x6
  • stiffening (spacing 500mms)       L80x80x8 and L60x60x6

These scantlings are defined for environmental loads (waves up to 1,2m) and mooring loads from boarded vessels.
Painting is epoxy (total 300 microns under water line and 120 microns above WL)
Total weight of steel is about 30t. In order to manage freeboard and draught, the barges can be ballasted with concrete (up to 30t). This concrete is poured in the bottom of the hull, up to the top of the frames, but separated from steel with a layer of polystyrene.
Each barge is fitted with 2 collars for mooring on dolphins, at the ends, or on one side.
The space in the hull is accessible through an enclosed staircase, with a watertight door.
Forward and aft peaks are fitted with filling pipes and vents, in order to use them as water or fuel tanks.
The deck finishing is non-skid painting. A painted railing is enclosing the main deck, including 2 boarding gates on hinges.
The barges, not ballasted, are designed in order to be transported on trucks (collars, staircase enclosure and railings are transported separately)

This bid does not include:

  • unloading from the trucks in French harbour
  • ballast consisting in concrete and polystyrene
  • welding of collars to the hull (collars are only delivered)
  • welding of stair enclosure on the hull (stair enclosure is only delivered)
  • supply and installation of bilge pumps
  • supply and installation of electrical
